DIY Rack Advice
So I'm planning to build two racks for 32qt sterilite tubs. But can't decide on the best and most economical configuration.
I would like to build them as high as possible as I don't have a ton of floor space. Originally I was thinking 10 high until I started to figure out how many sheets of xpvc I will need. Building 10 high seems to have a lot of left over scrap. So now I can't figure out what's the best way to go. Two side by side racks, 2 stackable racks, 9 high, 10 high, etc?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

When I built my 5 tub (34qt) rack, it only took one sheet of pvc with only a few strips left over. I used 4 strips on the side for support and to act as legs instead of having fully covered sides. That saved me a lot of material

What were your design plans exactly? Also what is size of a 32qt tub?

I forgot to mention that I'd like to build closed racks. I thought about doing it the other way but the Tempe in my house can range from 65° to 70° and am worried I'll have heating issues.
What are the ambient temps in your house?

Sorry, the 32qt tubs are
23 5/8" L x 16 3/8" W x 6 1/2" H
Unfortunately I don't have any design plans per say.
These are the pieces I would need to build a 10 high rack. I think? lol I suck at this.
24"x17" x11
72"x24" x2
72"x18" x1
Oh and I intend to use 1/2" xpvc

The house stays at about 72f. I've never had any issues getting the right temps in my tubs but our house never gets cold

I think you can get 10 tubs with two sheets, if you don't mind a pieced together back.
first piece is 10x 16.75 x 24ish (going to be a little less from the saw blade). You should have somewhere around 11.75 x 48 after cutting (assuming a .125 inch blade) left over to use on the back.
Second piece would be 2x 72 x 24ish, then cut a 16.75 x 48 piece. That piece will be cut in half so you have your 11x pieces, plus an extra for the back.
What you have left over is somewhere around 7 x 48 and a 11.75 x 48. Also the extra 16.75 x 24.
Put the 7 and 11.75 together. cut one of them to make them 17.75 wide when together. If it is perfect it should be a piece about .875 wide being cut off. Cut this small piece in half to have 2x at 24ish. Put the 16.75 x 24 next to the 2x .875 x 24 and you should be over the 17.75 wide, cut to fit. Again if perfect you would be cutting a .625 x 24 piece off.
So basically you end up with a back that has a 5 separate pieces, but all covering the 72 x 17.75 inch area needed. Your only scrap is a single piece of .625 x 24, or less.

Sweet! Much appreciated, TY!
One problem is how to relay this to the company that's cutting it.
Would it be best to have them do the main cuts and do the rest myself? For instance, have them cut the 10 16.75x24" pieces from the first piece and 2 72x24" pieces from the second.
Again, thanks for taking the time to figure that out.

I have no idea how accurate they would cut it, I have always cut my own material. I guess you could draw a cut sheet or something for them and just hope they cut it accurate enough.

Unfortunately cutting it myself isn't an option atm. I made a cut sheet. How does it look?
Thanks again! Happy Holidays!
