    Hi.

Being a double recessive, this being sort of a pain to breed and kind of uncommon, I feel like they're still quite pricy.

The best way to get an idea of competitive pricing on the web is to go to Kingsnake.com > classifieds > ball pythons and then run a search looking for what you want, or simply browsing big lots for sale. I find this is almost always cheaper than breeder's websites, as the price is always changing as people attempt to undercut each other. That's how I get a vague idea of pricing. However, I've found many prices at reptile shows make Kingsnake look very expensive. I'd get an idea and then shop around and look at your options, especially with a snake as expensive yet as varying in quality as any sort of pied.

Thank you and I'm going to try and get 2 pairs. A pair of het albinos and het pieds and try to hit the odds of an albino and pied. Then I'll breed those to get double hets and breed back 2 double hets to each other and hopefully hit good odds. I know that'll be a long time but I'm not really in a rush at the moment. But if I have the money I'll buy a pied and an albino to get double hets and just go from there

Definately do the pied and albino and not the hets. In my opinion. You're looking at $600-$700 probably. I'd definitely get a male pied and female albino. That's probably your cheapest option.

$600-$700 for both together right?? I imagine it would be a whole lot easier instead of buying het albinos and het pieds and not being able to reach the goal for some odd amount of years.

Yes for both I would actually get a male albino and a female pied if I was to go that route, the female Pied is more valuable as a breeder in the future.

You can probably also pick up a pair of Double Hets for $500 which will cut 18 months to 3 years out of that project, knowing that if you buy a Pied and an Albino you are looking at 3 to 6 years before producing your own Albino Pied.

    Yes, maybe $800 with shipping.

I didn't even think about double hets somehow. I was picturing a pair of albino hets and a pair of pied hets.

Deborah is right, double hets would probably be best.

Or maybe a pair of albinos both get for pied, or vice versa.
