    Bunny head?

IN THE EVENT OUR SITE IS UNAVAILABLE

CAN I PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BEG YOU NOT TO GO POSTING THREADS ON OTHER HERP SITES ASKING WHERE ball-pythons.net WENT!?!?!?1

If we are hacked or having problems with the host there is no way any other sites are going to know about it. It's really poor form and in fact could be seen as INSINUATING that someone may have knowledge of it.

Trust me the anxiety and frustration these downtimes cause are a terrific source of frustration for everyone - more so to those involved with trying to fix it and prevent recurrence. Juggling damage control just adds to that pile. No one else has a hand in running the site or is privy to any sort of "behind-the-scenes" info.

    Gracias.

Now - as a result of this problem having recurred we're discussing several options and hoping to find one that results in a seamless transition AND allows us to keep features we KNOW you value while at the same time giving us the level of security we need to assure the site is available to you at all times.

Apologies to you all for the downtime.

I second this. Asking about us on other sites doesnt necessarily make us friends. Heck, i'd rather you guys email me about it than asking elsewhere.

I too agree with what other admins are saying, and I would rather be pm'd or emailed about this if you feel you need to.

Then i would just suggest waiting for the site to come back up. 99.99% of the time one of us knows if the site is down or not, and if one knows ... we all know. Spamming up other forums is not necessary, and not very nice. How would you like it if someone came here and did it?

I will agree with all the other admins here. Carson and I were on late last night and he was working on a site backup, and we were all in touch by phone by 8 AM this morning. Despite the abysmal pay, we are all at least as dedicated to this site as you all are and are determined to keep uptime and features as close to 100% as possible. We have identified a new host but have some other issues to work out to make sure don't go about the site move in a half-assed manner. Please trust us to do our best to take care of this site.

I trust you guys. I love this site, and loathe anyone who would try to harm it. We will survive!

Heh - yeah didn't mean to "scream" - but you can imagine the site means a lot to us admin'ing as well - and that precisely because it means something to a good number of you.
