Hi there I bought a 3 year old male royal ball python I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to approach him for handling. He is tame as he has been used to being handled for 3 years be previous owner.

As long as you dont spook him by lunging at him you should be fine.

With mine i always grab them from behind (the opposite side that the snake is facing). Just in case. Id hate to be the 1 in a 1000 that get bit by a snake i like and lose trust in it. Its a bit of a preventative measure for me. With that being said i was only bit twice by the same girl but she was a (bad word here)!

Let the snake hold on to you as opposed to you holding it. You should be fine. Congrats on the new snake!

Thank you and yeah I'm the same I don't want him to bite me then lose that trust in him he is a really nice snake and I adore him. How long should I handle him for at a time just wondering if there was any length of time to handle them without causing stress to him?

I really think that how long you handle your snake for depends on that individual snake. So long as he doesn't seem stressed, handle him for as long as you'd like. If he starts to get stressed out, just put him back.

I find best way, to remove there hide... And just grab dont give them time to ract and get deffensive/aggresive, once in hands they are 90% of the time puppy dog tame, with him already being tame youll be set.

That's pretty much what I do. Lift the hide up and towards me as a shield and then I reach from the blindside and once in hand they know it's cage cleaning time or just hang out time. The majority of balls that are handled become a sweet puppy dog once in hand.
