    RIP Coraline

I mentioned this in my other thread (about finding Veruca the Stimson's Python), but wanted to give Coraline her own mention here. When I got home last night from Boston, where I was attending my grandmother's funeral, I discovered that Coraline the Amel corn snake had passed away... no idea how or why, she was just laying upside-down with her mouth slightly open. I adopted her about 5 years ago off Craigslist, and didn't know her exact age, but she was already a full-grown adult. And given that everyone else in her rack seems fine, I'm guessing it was old age/natural causes?

At any rate, I was sad to make this discovery, as she was a very sweet girl. Like most corns she was a bit feisty and skittish, but calmed down when I held her. She'd also do this funny "dance" around her tub after receiving a meal (f/t mouse), like she was afraid I'd try to take her precious dinner. Yeah, because frozen mice are always my favorite - LOL. She will be missed; RIP Coraline!

Here's a picture from a few years ago, when I set up an egg tub thinking she was gravid... turns out she was just very fat.

P.S. In retrospect, she had been noticeably slowing down over the last few months... just figured she was finally mellowing out, but now that adds to my suspicion that she was older than I'd realized. She had no signs of illness, though, and had been eating/etc like normal.
