    Question About My Boas

About three weeks ago, I purchased a couple boas from a local pet store. Yes, I know, not recommended. But I fell in love with the ladies. They're close to two years old, I guess, because I was told that they were 8 months when the store first got them, and they've been there for a year or so.
Anywho! They are supposedly anerythristic, and yes they lack the red tail and all that, but they aren't that typical grey and black that you would expect them to be. (Well at least I would from any pictures I've seen.) They're simply beige/brown, with little black on them, so that's why I'm here. Just want to clarify that this is normal and they are what they are.(:

Can you post a picture? It's really hard to identify by a written description...

    Re: Question About My Boas

These are the two girls together, it's not the best picture though. I can take better ones tomorrow where I'll have good light. (Don't mind the mattress, super old.)

I think the big girl on top looks kinda normal to me...the bottom one could be pastel? I'm not sure the lighting isn't very good. Pretty girls!

    Question About My Boas

I shall take better pictures tomorrow with good lighting, and see what you think then! Though, they seem kind of switched now, lol. The girl on top, who I call Eowyn, is lighter now because she was in shed at the time of that photo; the girl on the bottom, which my boyfriend has yet to name, is going into shed now so she is darker! Ah, the struggle, haha.
But thank you.(: They're such sweethearts! I hope they remain that way.

    Question About My Boas

This is the best I can do right now, iPhone photos, and light from a window. It's getting really cold out, and the weather is pretty crappy right now, so I can't take her outside for some nice photos. Plus I don't have a fancy camera like lots of people on here do!
That is the big girl, Eowyn. The other lady is in shed right now, so she's incredibly darker than she generally would be.
But yeah, it strikes me a bit odd that she's nothing like the anery boas I see, and she doesn't have the red.

Check out the pics a little down the page of this person's anerys. These look to be adult animals and you can see that they too have "browned out" some. As in BPs, boas tend to develop brown on their bodies as they age, so you're seeing some browning on your adults. With anerys, to me, it's most evident that the "warm" orangy / redish tones are missing. The babies will look like shades of grey and gain brown as they age, but don't have the red or orange tones you'd see in a normal. It may be that very high end anerys stay grayer (the same is true in BPs), but it can also be random as to how much brown they develop.

Whether they are anery or not, they are definitely nice looking boas.

You might want to try asking here. The link is to a boa-specific forum and there might be more people there that have bred anerys and can tell you or show you pics of their adults. That forum doesn't get as much traffic as this one, but the people there have been helpful to me.

    Question About My Boas

I get an "Internal Server Error" when I click on the links, but no big deal!
It doesn't matter what they are to me, it doesn't even have anything to do with the price, I know for a fact that the pet store I purchased them from marks their stuff up 60%. So I have no doubt that they were WAY over-priced. They are sweethearts, and I love them.
I was just curious if that is actually what they were.(:
    But thank-you! ^-^
