Day Geckos

Does anybody here keep day geckos? I picked up a book on them today at the NARBC, and they look really neat. (You can only handle one species, but they are really neat looking). I can't remember which species Leann Christenson said was handleable either. I remember what it looks like, but don't ask me which one it was

I might get one sometime in the future.

i have one but i really don't like it....it does nothing but cling to the wall and i can't handle it cause it freaks out and bites and tries to jump out of my hand....i personally am not impressed but you may have better luck

You can't handle day geckos. As a species, they are very nervous little guys and they often have very fragile skin. The only day gecko remotely handleable is Standings.

If you want a more handleable gecko, try getting a leopard, or possibly a crestie.

Day geckos are far more of a display animal.

AFT's will tolerate being handled well, as long as it is not ALL the time. I have 2, one is better than the other, but he is only a juvie too.

i had a lined day gecko several years ago and i just loved him. the day geckos are my favorite of all lizards and geckos. i really would love to have another lined day gecko and/or a crimson giant day gecko, and have very nearly bought one at various shows, but i have had to come to terms with the fact that i just do not have room for another reptile that is diurnal right now. i have a second bedroom that i keep nice and dim for my nocturnal herps, so i'll just have to stick with creatures of the night for now.

Well there are 2 different types of reptiles out there
1. The ones that can be handled held and tolerate it pretty well
2. The ones that are "eyes only" and should be handled as little as possible (cleaning tank and such)

Now its up to the person to decide whether they want a touchy/feelly pet or a display animal
