It was the cutest thing

I was walking inside, and on the porch, right in front of our door, was the cutest baby cornsnake. Well, not baby, it was a couple months old, over a foot long. So I picked him up so I wouldn't step on the little bugger and of course he was rattling his tail and actually bit me. Oh yeah like it did any good I just put him in our bushes and went inside.

Don't worry guys, I know what corns look like, and even though I live in Texas, I don't see any Rattlesnakes around. This little guy was maybe a tad over a foot long and fairly fat. Maybe he was going after some of our house geckos we have EVERYWHERE... By all means little guy, have all you want, LoL.

Cool! I've never seen a wild corn, even though they are supposed to be a native species here. Seems that one was a true Texas corn, though, thinkin' he was bigger than he is and spoilin' for a fight.

That is awesome. I've only seen snakes in the wild twice in my life. The first time was September of last year in a cemetary I saw a black kingsnake in Tennesee, and a few months ago I saw a snake at the dog park. I swear it was a checkered gartsnake - but they're not native to Indiana. I didn't really get a good look.

Very kewl! I love when we encounter snakes (or other animals for that matter) in the wild.
I've seen (and caught briefly to admire) many wild snakes in my lifetime. In NY it was mostly Garter snakes, down here we have found in our yard Black Racers (those buggers get pretty darn big!), Southern Ringnecks (mostly babies, they are so pretty though!) and just the other day we caught some sort of Colubrid baby, but we haven't been able to identify it yet (and it was in the middle of a shed so we didn't keep it too long, just long enough to admire and let go out of the way of our lawn mowing!)....AND we also rescued an Aligator Snapping Turtle yesterday. We were attempting to get it out of the road but just as we were close to approaching it a car hit it! His shell is damaged and we're trying to locate a wildlife rehabilitator that will take it (they are protected down here) b/c I know he can be helped....ok, got a little of topic, sorry!!

hehiv seen wild snakes like 4-5 times mostly black racers and gaters and i live in florda!

That's so cool. It is always so cute when little snakes bite you. I got bitten last summer by a pretty nasty 3-foot garter, out in our yard. He flattened out his whole body like he thought he was a cobra, and opened his mouth, hissing. I just Had to pick him up, and he went and nailed me, and I laughed about it. Wild snakes rock.

In vermont, we find garter and water snakes all the time. I dont really know wat kind of water snake, they are mostly brown with redish stripes/lines

corns are suposed to be native here, and I have yet to see one. It stinks cus I cant get one cus the dang law says no native reptiles!

ive seen like 10 corns 2 water snakes(the kind that looked liked corns), and 1 hognose down here in ga, i guess some of the reason is that we live right next to the woods!

Geez...Los Angeles sucks really bad. This place is so heavily urbanized that I doubt anything wild could survive in this enviroment. I have never seen a wild snake anywhere around here. I guess if you get out into the desert that you could probably stand a chance of seeing some wild herps but where I live...no way.....
