Nothing like the look of a crestie . How old is she? How many times has she bred for you?

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

carson she's around 3 yrs. old. i have only bred her once to my chocalate/tan male. she produced 6 eggs for me last year. i sold all the eggs, i should have held on to at least one of them. hey elevatethis, if you read this get ryan at the store to get a pic of the baby i sold him. that is the one i was going to hold back. this year i'm going to get a real red pair and raise/breed them. i have always like the intense red ones and i'm going to get some.
thanks

She's got great color, Vaughn. How did you manage not to keep any of her babies? I'm not sure how many it will take before i can let one go. Sandiego is my male and he is pretty red. Not as red as some of the reddest I've seen, but he has good color -- came from Jodi Aherns' red line. We'll see what kind of babies he makes pretty soon, too, since Carmen laid her first clutch Friday night, just before the site got hacked.

thanks all, marla last year i just didn't want to deal with the hatchlings and pinheads. this year my wife is going to help with the babies and i'm going to use a gekco formula with baby food until they get some size. pinhead crickets are a pain to find locally and i couldn't see buying a 1000 at a time online to feed 2 or 3 babies. i'm working on a pair of reds right now. when i say red i mean fire engine/corvette red!
thanks

The good thing about pinhead crickets is that they grow up to be big crickets. When you say working on a pair, you mean negotiating to buy or already raising to breed? I have seen some fabulous red ones and even almost burgundy-looking, which would be really sweet.
Sandiego is more of a brick red, and brownish when he's not fired up. Still, even if all I could breed was buckskins I'd be excited about the babies. I am looking forward to seeing Scooby's babies -- you've probably seen her pics with the gold and white flame, partial pinstriping, and gold harlequin sides. She has several months before she's big enough, though.

i'm working on getting a red female 2 1/2 yrs. old and a juvie male (both red). one of the things with cresteds is that they can change dramatically the first six months! some can look plain as babies and turn out spectacular as adults and vice versa! this year i'm going to hold onto the babies for at least 3-4 months minimum.
thanks

Nice female there ! and yep all the babies seem to go through a buckskin phase right about 2-3 months of age then the adult coloration seems to just speckle in over the next 2-5 months and Marla congrats on the eggs!
