    Question about genetics wizard ...

What does it mean when it gives you two of the same thing in the results?

    For instance :
    12.5% ---- 1/8 ---- Spider
    12.5% ---- 1/8 ---- Bumblebee
    12.5% ---- 1/8 ---- Bumblebee
    12.5% ---- 1/8 ---- Killerbee

    12.5 + 12.5 = 25%

The reason it's doing that is because the two parents are sharing one of the two genes in the Bumblebee (either Spider or Pastel). In this case, it looks like both mom and dad have Pastel (no other way to get a Killerbee). One of the 12.5% is the hatchling getting a Pastel gene from Mom, and the other 12.5% is the hatchling getting a Pastel gene from Dad.

Ultimately, as Freakie_frog said, it means you have a 25% shot at a Bumblee from this pairing by adding the two chances together.

My guess is when the results get built, one says pastel, spider and the other says spider, pastel and thus treats them differently. I know mine calc did the same thing, but it was an easy fix:

    Male:
    Female:
    Percent Fraction Traits
    12.5% 1/8 Killerbee
    12.5% 1/8 Super Pastel
    25% 1/4 Bumblebee
    25% 1/4 Pastel
    12.5% 1/8 Spider
    12.5% 1/8 Normal
