Is my butter ball a butter pastel?

Hey all, new to the site, and I wanted some opinions on my butter ball python I purchased back in February. After doing some research, I'm hoping that maybe he has a pastel gene somewhere in there, because his yellow is very bright and hasn't dulled as he's aged.
He was also sold to me as a female but recently discovered he is indeed a male after a vet visit. Do I have a right to complain to the pet shop who sold him to me? Or is sexing not always 100% accurate when they're young? If I guessed his age, I'd say he was hatched late summer last year, making him about a year old.

I would be upset being females cost anywhere from a few dollars more to double the cost of males. And as for sexing at that age it should've been a guarantee especially if they have a specialized sales person in the reptile section. I would definitely complain

My opinion is taking into the account the size of the snake and how bright it is and the gamut the pastel gene runs its in the realm of possibility. If I was you I would rather assume it's a very nice Butter instead of a mediocre Butter possible...maybe Pastel and if you ever breed it see if you're pleasantly surprised.

The head screams regular butter, no pastel. Pastel butters have a nice blushing on their head. Your guy doesnt have any blushing on his head (he has a head spot, not related to the pastel gene). This is a comparison pic I took a of siblings a few years back. Super pastel butter on the left, butter in the middle, and pastel butter on the right. Huge difference between even a nice butter and a pastel butter.

Thank you for clarifying, I'm not surprised, was only hopeful he had a pastel gene in there lol. He just has that tiny blushy spot on his head. Still love him regardless. But I think when I hit up that pet shop I'll be demanding a discount on an actual female butter.

Just a butter and I would absolutely complain and request a partial refund for the mis-sex.
