question about BCI shedding

adrian, my female BCI, shed last fri. sat, i fed her. it was her first small rat. she took it no problems. today she was peeping out of her hide, i think to get a drink of water. anyways, her colors are dark, like they usually are before she sheds. so i picked her up, and her eyes are clear, bellys not pink. is there a reason she is so dark? she usually sheds a little after a week after going that dark. could this be a growth spirt?

Mine always flushes dark after he eats. Normally he's lighter with lots of pink throughout, but after a meal he goes quite dark. I hear it's normal for thier colors to do this. Could be growing related I suppose as they do grow like mad these first couple years.......

anyone know why they get dark like that?

I read somewhere a few days ago that rtb's change color depending on warmth...like when they're on the warm side of the tank all nice and warm, they may be a lighter color, and on the cooler side, a bit darker in color. I've also heard that they change color depending on time of day. I don't know why, or if it's even true. Just what I read. And I read it from a seemingly reliable source...just wish I could remember the site.

Edit: It's not the same site I was looking for, but it does have a bit on the color change of boas.
