Ever go into a pet store, look over at the rat section and spot a pregnant rat? If you buy it, it's like twelve meals for the price of one! This happened to me yesterday; scored a preggo dumbo rat female for 5 bucks, and she is humungous! Real pretty too; she's white but with some reddish coloring, like a roan horse, or kinda like paprika sprinkled on white potato salad. Oh yay!

Nice! Just bought one just like it yesterday, they charge 8 bucks for adult rats here, tho. The owner is a nice lady, even helps me pick out pregnant ones knowing she's saving me lots of dough. Puts more importance on repeat customers than quick cash I suppose. Also ran across a nice bonus, she was selling a tank that had a crack (20 gal) with screen lid and dripper for $15........had to scoop that up!

Really? My petco sells rats for 3 bucks. But they arn't pregnent far as I can see. But wouldn't the employees get suspisious if like every month you come and buy a pregnet rat?

i would do that too but im not to fond of rats(or mice), i have always been kinda scared of them after i got bit by one when i was young.Thats why its not a big deal for me to put them in a bag and whack them. They wont hurt me when they are dead, lol

I wish pet stores around here were that nice. lol

I wonder if I'm the only one here that loves rats too. I have pet rats in addition to my feeders. They are the friendliest, and smartest of all the small pets I know of.

Mice on the other hand.. yuck. They smell, they're stupid, and they bite. lol

Shelby, I agree completely. I've had pet mice (years ago), bred feeder mice, and had pet rats (my daughter has one now), and rats are far preferable and actually have distinct personalities. There are a couple more on here who like rats too.
