Snake bite question

Well I just fed my ball python high rat. Everything went fine, and he was all finished. I let him sit for a little before taking him out of his "feed" bin to put him back in his tank. Well when I went to get him out he stricked at me and got my hand. I was just wondering, is there anything I should be worried about? I washed the cut with soap and water, its not really bad, but I wasn't sure since I just fed him if I have anything to worry about.

Feed inside the tank, no feed bin: he won't become aggressive from feeding in his enclosure.

Wash the bite and put some neosporin/or the like on it: you should be just fine.

yes. im sorry im the wone who has to tell you this... youre going to loose the hand. but in all seriousness theres nothing to worry about. i have a bumblebee and his wobble kicks in during feeding and he has gotten my hand more than once. as long as you cleaned it youre good. any reason you dont feed in the enclosure? just curious. and welcome to the bite club

Just like any cut: soap and water.

Oh, and be sure to suck the venom out immediately! LICK, SUCK, RINSE AND REPEAT, LICK, SUCK, RINSE AND REPEAT...

Lol thanks everyone, I figured it couldn't be something major but figure doesn't hurt to ask!

The reason why I do not feed in the enclosure is three reasons:

1. I don't want the snake to always think when my hand comes in thats its dinner time.

2. I thought I read somewhere that, since I have aspen as subsrate for him that it could get on the rat and he/she shouldn't swallow it?

3. Also I figured giving him a feeding bin makes his enclosure less messy.

1. I don't want the snake to always think when my hand comes in thats its dinner time. Won't happen unless you make a SFE and your hand smells and wiggles like a rat.

2. I thought I read somewhere that, since I have aspen as subsrate for him that it could get on the rat and he/she shouldn't swallow it? Snakes have been eating food to a while now that wasn't in a clean steril tub. They can do just fine with a little debris.

We did some of the same things you are doing now. After listening to those with more experience we changed to in tank feeding and have not had any additional mess, stress on the snake, bites, or lack of feeding response.
