A New Background

I wanted to try out a different background for photos and this is what I came up with. It's definitely different from the black, white, or red I usually go with!

beautiful BPs, but i think the background distracts from the snakes. i notice my eyes wandering off into the background too often when i look at the background.

i think its because of the complex non-repetitive pattern of the background.

Thank you for complimenting the animals and critiquing the background. If I can find a suitable mirror, I think that, combined with a black background, will be my next venture.

mirror + black background is a great idea

i also have an idea for you. Stefan Broghammer, a german breeder, apparently found a way to do a top view and a belly shot simultaneously, with two cameras. and two background colors.

i wonder how his setup looks like, the background is so perfect, and he does this with hundreds of animals. in the belly shots you have no reflections at all. i really think this is the ultimate solution, especially when you can vary both background colors independently.

so maybe you want to work with glass instead of a mirror
