Re: Figment - Our Hypo Lavender Corn Baby

Figment is holding steady at about 630G, but is, in my estimation, every bit of 5FT. He's not a small corn snake by any stretch of the imagination, although he's not exactly a boid either!

Here are some pictures of Katie holding him stretched out (with funny faces and all) so everyone can see his size.

Re: Figment - Our Hypo Lavender Corn Baby

Figment was pretty chill tonight, well, for Figment. Even though I was using the iPhone in bad light, I got a few good pictures, including one that shows of his purple eyes real well. I try all the time, but he's a wiggly worm, although harmless and has never struck since being a tiny baby. He just likes to move! He could learn from his little sister, Solana, she's not so ADHD!

He's been hovering around 640-650G and a good 5ft since I switched to 40G mice (give or take) every 2 weeks. He's 5 in November and should be pretty grown at this point. I am avoiding fattening him up as I want him lean and, ummm, docile. .

Re: Figment - Our Hypo Lavender Corn Baby

OMG! The most horrible thing happened tonight! I feel so bad for Katie!

I took Figment out to see if he had gone to the bathroom yet, since I fed him last on Sunday.

I didn't see any waste, and Katie asked to hold him, so I let her, while I pulled up paper etc. to see if/where he had pooped.

Nothing in the tank. I turn around to reach for Figment, and........................

He poops, pees, and urates all over Katie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was everywhere! She was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. It literally got in her hair, embedded in her jewelry (that was a fun cleanup), her shirt, her shorts, the chair, etc.

I was horrified and felt terrible, I mean completely awful, for Katie. It was really a lapse in my judgement. No poop, he should have gone right back in.

Having said that, I've never had one of my snakes poop on me, ever! Once, George, my old Bearded Dragon (RIP), did as a baby, but that was it.

Katie was grossed out, but laughing, until she got upstairs and had to get it off and out of everywhere. Then, not so much.

Katie is showered, chair is cleaned thoroughly, clothes are in the washing machine, and jewelry was F10'd and then professionally cleaned.

Also, Figment is safe and sound in his tank. However, I am not sure Katie wants to see him anytime soon .

Here is the calm before the storm, taken right after she asked to hold him, and before I checked the tank:

Re: Figment - Our Hypo Lavender Corn Baby

Yeah. He’s a big boy. 5ft and about 650g. Big corn. However. He’s lean and, well, like all my other reptiles, docile.

I feed every two weeks now and he’s maintained about that weight for about a year.

I don't think he understands what he did wrong. It will probably never happen again either.

However. He is on time out and went to bed without a mouse dinner (he ate Sunday though, so I’m not exactly being cruel).

Re: Figment - Our Hypo Lavender Corn Baby

At this point, Katie has posted the Figment poop story on Facebook, explained it in great detail to her mother, and guilted me quite a bit . She seems to think it's funny now, which is good. I am glad she can laugh at it. I felt so incredibly terrible.
