I just found a garter snake sliding through my backyard so I decided to pick him up and keep him for little while. I put some peat/soil in a 3 gallon tank and right away he burrowed! it was sorta cool. Just thought I might share this weird info.....well not the weird of info but yea...Ill get some pics up

Yea, They are but the funniest thing is that he tried biting me lol I just thought that was funny too because he was just sitting there with his mouth open nipping at me. He seems sorta confused right now I think he thinks he can go through the glass.
Well tomorrow I am gonig to pick him up a couple pinhead crickets. They are spose to eat mice when they are bigger......but this guy couldn't even swallow a pinkie. I cant wait to see a garter snake take down a pinkie.

Well, if your worried about feeding listen to this. I went to the petstore today and I was looking at the snakes. There were small corns in there about big and wide as a pencil. I asked what they eat and he said the eat those small pinky mice. So hopefully this helps.

Garters/ribbon snkes are the easiest things to feed imo, even wc ones. Why does everyone try with pinkies? Minnows and earthworms are much easier to me at least

I'd love to get an albino checkered garter.. those are pretty! As are the red sided ones.

Have fun with the little bugger.

From what I remember catfood (the tinned stuff) works great as well.
They also love frogspawn and go wild over tadpoles/small frogs.
