Ok i had just posted yesterday about how Jay likes to soak allot and that I had not seen any mites or anything. Well today I was cleaning up the tank and his water dish and I noticed something crawling on my hand. It was small and black so I am assuming it was a mite, there were also some in the water dish as well floating.
Ok so what do I need to do I am relatively certain everyone else with scales in the house is ok but what medicine do I need to get? Do I take him to the vet? or just get stuff or what unfortunately this is my first time of having to deal with this so I am a little unprepared.
I'm all ears folks whats the game plan?

Check out this thread: http://www.ball-pythons.net/index.ph...ewtopic&t=4722 . Getting rid of mites for bp's is the same for any snake. These guys have it nailed down. Good luck with them, thats why Jay was soaking then.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

I think we all go through it at least once. I'm sure you guys will have it cleared up in no time.

Oddly enough, my bci had mites when I first got him. I just soaked him for a few hours a day for about a week, and treated his tank with this zoo-med anti-mite spray. Eventually they were gone.
My main concern would be to make sure that none of your other herps get them. I am sure you are taking precautions though.
