Question New Owner Worried- Strange Scales, Please Help

I'm a fairly new owner, it's been a great time so far but I'm worried at the moment. This morning I found strange scales on his underbelly, could anyone help identify?

could be a burn? there's definite discoloration across the underbelly, but the side looks most affected.
to rule out a burn: how to you monitor temps in the enclosure? what are you using as a heat source? is the heat source regulated with a thermostat?

Hard to tell & see in a pic but its looks like a infection could be starting. You dont use a Heat Rock do you?
I don't know what to tell you as I use Vets when a problem arises at all. Maybe someone else has seen that. It doesn't look like Scale Rot to me.. More like Burn or infection starting.

I've got a heat lamp and a pad under the tank in his hide area, that could be it because unfortunately the heat pad is not regulated

Your going to cook him. Heat Mats ( especially ones from Petsmart chain stores) heat up to 140. They specifically say in the directions must be regulated by the thermostat. You are cooking that snake

Why on earth do you not have it on a thermostat?!?! Then yes it's probably a burn! Take your snake to the vet. And unplug the heat pad NOW until you get a thetmostat.
