Help
My ball python has been eating f/t mice , just switched to rats today he struck started taking it down but was acting weird he started from the middle bent the rat in half and then after trying to fit the rat pup in half he eventually stopped and left it and won't eat it now, any suggestion ! does he not like the taste? or was it due to the fact he bent it and got discouraged he couldn't eat it?

Re: Help
He probably got discouraged. Try again in a few days and he might do better. Its a learning thing to them also.

Re: Help
Since you're feeding f/t, you might as well leave the rat overnight and see if he eats it.

Re: Help
I agree you should leave it overnight. I have a Mojave I am moving over to F/T. He wont even strike, just sniffs and backs up, but i put it in his hide and it is gone in an hour.
You could also warm it up with a hair dryer for a couple minutes before you reintroduce it.

Re: Help
Yea, leave it by his hide and see if he takes it. Or warm it up a bit and try to zombie dance it for him. Your call.

Hide it is , if he doesn't take it i will wait 3-4 days till i try again he is still 190-200 grams so i try and get him to eat every 3-4 days he has never missed a meal today was first time bc the idiot tried bending the rat and it was his first day trying rats pups they are the same size as the adult mice so i know he won't have a problem with them , and he also struck at the rat so I'm assuming its not the switch of food its that he is still a little baby and needs to learn to eat them head first or tail first not from the side lmao!!! my other pied today ate 2 rat pups she slammed them both down so quick under 3 minutes each, she is 190 grams.

Re: Help
My girl still tries to eat from rear at times. Like I said. It's a learning process. They don't have experience like older ones do. They are just like baby, puppy or kitten. They have to learn and get the experience. My girl tried to take the large rat I gave her from the rear, then tried the side and finally the head. She's 4 yrs and still does this.
