    Streak Of bad Luck

This winter has been especially harsh in the Northeast and even worse on our Horse Farm, December 18 we lost our horse Phillip in a freak accident. He was running in the snowy pasture and fell breaking his hock and hitting his head. We were all for the surgery to save him until he started seizing from the head trauma. It was horrible to see my horse of 8 years like that. He had to be put down, it was easily the worse day of my life and I still cant get over it. Fast forward to this passed weekend January 26th our other horse Pocos suffered a tear in his stomach from a 5 inch ulcer, which went un- diagnosed for much of his life. It took an autopsy to find it, we had 3 Vets out to our property in two days. I am beyond devastated and it does not end there. Wednesday is feeding day for balls and I check my snakes every morning increase the humidity etc, My baby butter was fine even tried to bite me that morning, then when feeding time came he had passed. His temps were correct he had a tub with a uth on a thermostat just like the others, he was healthy despite his trouble eating he even ate the Saturday before. Then this morning I wake up to my son`s pet rat Science having a seizure and I call our vet tell him the symptoms and he tells me he doesnt have long, he subsequently died in the hands. His diagnoses per our vet is Mycoplasma Pulmonis a disease every rat is born with he was only 10 months old. I am starting to feel cursed this has never happened to us before, It has left a gaping hole in my heart to lose these animals. Devastation does not even begin to explain the pain we feel.

I'm so sorry. Losing one is bad enough, but when the hits just keep coming you start to wonder when it will stop. I can tell you it does stop and things do get better, it just takes time.

Holy crap. Very sorry to hear that. You definitely have my sympathy.
Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

Wow, I am so sorry. Not fair at all. I hope that these bad few months will bring a few really awesome years. I have lost beloved horses. They hurt more than any other to loose.

Hang in there buddy; not going to offer many words of "comfort" as nothing I can say would come close to easing your pain…all you can do is stay strong for your family members and your other animals….

I know how you feel. My first two horses passed away. The first one after a month (heart attack due to old age) and the second after four years (freak accident). It feels like someone punched a hole through your heart and all that is left is an empty ache. It's amazing how quickly they can capture your heart and how strongly they can bond. *hugs* I wish there was something I could do or say to help you with the pain. I just really hope your luck turns around.
