Alright, within the next month or so, the 20L that my BP is in has got to go. Its barely big enough now to hold the hides that she is already starting to grow out of. I have thought about just getting a 40 breeder but I was thinking I might test the waters on a vision or precision cage.

    Here's the precision cage.

    Its is 36"x20"x13.25".

Anyone have any specific info on heating this cage?

The vision V332 cage has heating built in, via a heat lamp shroud. This looks a little better as far as heating goes, but I still can't decide if that one heat lamp fixture will be able to give the proper temps. Anyone have eny experience with these?

(mods feel free to move this to caging, but since it applies directly to a ball python, I figured I'd post it in here)

you know, i was wondering the same thing. it doesnt seem like those cages that provide heating pad only heating would heat it enough. wheres the shroud on that tank, on the inside?

The precision cage doesn't have a shroud, just a fixture on the top, leaving the bulb exposed. I'm thinking a snake would try to crawl on it, like mine would do when she does her 3am cage stunts or escape attempts.

the vision cage has a shroud tho.

Basically I'm asking how you would go about heating these cages.

Apparently that's it - you have to use a bulb or ceramic to heat it - and it looks as if wiring or caging that off to keep the animal from getting burnt is entirely in your hands. Speaking only from drudging through the website though - I have personally never had one. I am leaning toward some of these @ $30 a pop at this point:

    VE 175 Dimensions: 20 7/8"W x 52 7/8"L x 14 1/16"H (also available in solid green as a special order)

    1-10 $30.00

I use sterilite. I am going to build a rack system soon and will use underbed storage boxes that are 44"x22"x7". That is plenty space for a ball python. If you are into presentation then a vision cage is the way to go. Have you looked at animal plastics they are a bit cheaper and are made very well.
    Thanks,

Do you have a link to a distributor for AP cages?

I also checked out the reptile tubs about a week ago and am considering purchasing from them for Smitty. Having trouble finding a long enough sterilite that isn't too deep. Seems like they have a good selection. I don't know much about precision or vision, but really like the Animal Plastics cages. If I could justify it, I would go w/an AP as I like the look, the price, and have heard good things about them.

Ok those are nice...and a lot cheaper than Vision.

For those of you with adult pythons, what size enclosure are you keeping them in? I can't decide if I need to get the 36" long cage or the 48" long one. (the T3 or the T10) I'm looking for a cage that she will be set for life in.
