Sausage Butt, what to do?
So my little trouble maker baby has sausage butt. She's axanthic and tiny, so I can clearly see that there's a poop/urate there through her white skin, it's just not coming out. I've soaked her in warm water for 20 minutes the last two nights, and nothing. I'm wondering if there's something else I should do, or if we should head back to the vet (this is the same baby that got her neck pinched in the tub)? It seems to be getting puffier, and I don't think it looks right, but she's also not irritated about being held or me touching the puffy area. I'll post pics when I get home, but I wanted to get the opinions flowing now if that's ok. Thanks!

Re: Sausage Butt, what to do?
I've never heard of a Ball Python dieing from not poo-ing. I've never 'treated' any of my sausage-butt snakes and they've all done fine. Eventually they all passed the load. Some sooner than others. And I've seen some pretty big poo from pretty small snakes!
I'll be interested in hearing other comments.

Re: Sausage Butt, what to do?
Soak it in warm water a few minutes and palpate it out.
If there is a white clump of urate at the opening get that out first and then some liquid should come out.
Then slowly work the turd out.

Put her on a lilly white dry-clean-only down comforter. She'll go...
All kidding aside, just leave her alone. It sounds like you're more stressed over it than she is.

I'll try this when I get home and report back.

Ha! Her dad did that on my brand new mattress when I first got him. I had him in QT in my bedroom, so to clean his cage I'd taken him out and put him in a pillowcase on the middle of the bed (so he couldn't go anywhere, but the dogs couldn't reach him either if they got curious). He soaked the pillowcase, comforter, sheets, and left a foot wide puddle on the mattress underneath.

Re: Sausage Butt, what to do?
Soaking is your best bet. Though, with my brood, all it would take a full dump and clean of the tub and they'd go ahead and break it in.

She's probably just waiting until she sheds to poop. Dovah likes to do that a lot.
Then when the poop comes, I have to evacuate the whole room xD

I would not worry much. My boy sometimes poops regularly and sometimes he waits until the shed. Never had any problems with this area of BP care

She shed last week, but didn't poop. I think she's been holding it since then.
Well, either the soaks did the trick, or she just finally felt ready, I just got home and she left a nice pile for me to clean up. I'm guessing the soaking may have helped, some of the poop looks pretty firm, I wonder if the stress from the neck cut incident was a factor somehow?
