this may sound like a dumb question but....on all the care sheets i have read on bci's they say to feed an "appropriately sized meal and i know that boas are not the smallest snake ....so does that mean that when the reach adult size they will be eating rabbits ? or just giant rats ? i cant really imagine a 6 7 or 8 foot snake living off of rats.

rabbits ?
It all depends on how big the snake gets. I watched a 6 foot female for a friend of mine, and she was almost big enough to consider feeding small rabbits too. When they get so big .. you have to look for other correctly sized prey items. I know large captive burms, green anacondas, and other giants could potentially need pigs at some point in their lives.

How long? Somehow i seriously doubt the snake got that big on just rats .. but i suppose anything is possible. According to NERD's caresheet on Retics record size is around 33 feet & 300+ pounds, so that one would be near the world record
