As some of you know I was taking care of my nephews Veiled Chameleon well the Veiled Chameleon that my nephew had died sometime today. I can't stress the importance of proper husbandry for any animal be it reptile, fish or mammal. Its a very sad day around here. I just knew in my heart that my efforts were futile and I feel sad that perhaps I didn't intevene sooner.
Thanks,
Damien

I'm so sorry to hear that.
Do you know what might have led to its death? I had a green iguana once that died from a calcium deficiency she had long before I ever got her, it was really difficult to make myself understand that she was sick far before I ever got her.

That is quite unfortunate. I used to really want a chameleon when I was young, but everything I read and heard about them indicated they were for more advanced keepers and I've been scared to keep them since. I haven't done any research on them in recent years, but if my memory serves me correctly, they're more demanding than green tree pythons!!!
Anyway, I hope your nephew realizes the things he did wrong and will not repeat the same mistakes if he gets any more herps. My condolences to both of you.

She died probibly due to complications with Metabolic bone disease. Her bones were so brittle that she would break bones just trying to climb. She was a perfectly healty captive born and bred from very colorful parents. Both partents are sun burst morphs.
Thanks,
Damien

hhw certainly there are some chameleons that are a bit difficult to keep as captives but Veiled are very hardy as chameleons go supplied with the proper lighting supplementation food and water they are very simple to maintain
Sorry to hear of the loss

I'm so sorry to hear that, Damien. At least you tried! I hope your nephew has learned from this and he doesn't keep anymore animals he's not willing to take care of.

I'm sorry to hear that man. I'm just glad you were able to get it out of there and give it a good last couple of weeks.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

Damien, I am so sorry to hear that. It's good that you did what you could for the poor thing, and a shame that your nephew was that neglectful. I hope he learns something from this experience.
