    Baby rat nest sculpture

Well, I'm having a hard time sleeping tonight, so I thought I would post some threads about some of the fun crafting/gift shopping I've been doing in preparation for Christmas (can't believe it's only a few days away!)

My girlfriend really loves rats (as pets, not snake food, haha) but in her current situation she can't have any rats. So I was looking around for rat-themed gift ideas to give her.

I stumbled across this hand-made item on Etsy and loved it...https://www.etsy.com/listing/1181881...l-polymer-clay
But unfortunately I can't really justify the $100.00 price tag on this fine creation at this time. However, I really really liked the idea, so instead I decided I would try to "make it myself."
I give full credit for the creative idea to the original seller, and I have no intentions of selling my creation, but I think it will make a nice Christmas gift and I'm hoping my girlfriend will appreciate the hand-made quality of it.

Here are some pictures! Being familiar with the mice pinkies I feed my snakes helped out a lot actually. And I know they're not perfect, but I think they turned out pretty well (made from oven-bake polymer clay). The clay turned a much darker "hot pink" color after it came out of the over, which was a little unfortunate, but I think rat pinkies are usually a little darker in color any way.

Edit: sorry for the large/stretched photos :/

Oh my god, how cute! Good job. I love little rat babies, they are adorable. That is a really neat idea. And came out well!

Very nicely done! Your rats are cuter IMO, yours look like they're all cozy and content in their little book nest, the etsy ones look kind of distressed.
