    Exponential Babies

I just had to start my big axanthic girl on ASFs just to clear out space... for more ASFs. I had 5 left in the growout tub, so I fed them off (Bubbles is such a champ) to make room to wean the litter of 14 that was ready to move out of the breeder colony. Four days later and a litter of ten, a litter of nine, and another litter of fourteen have filled the empty space they left behind. I think I may end up just feeding my 'forever' snakes ASFs, these things are more fertile than any animal I've ever encountered!

No need to worry about just feeding the "forever snakes" ASFs. We have been feeding all of our little CH babies everything and they do not refuse meals regardless of food type. They will eat live and f/t mice, rats, and ASFs. I know the prey imprinting is true for animals which never encounter any other food type for years (such as Wild Caughts) but so long as you feed variety they will take it all.

    Re: Exponential Babies

I know how you feel. I just put 12 in my growout/feedout tank, have 29 that will be weaned in 10 days or less, and at least two more heavily pregnant mommies....this is not including the ones i fed off yesterday. I brought two pairs in to work about 2-3 months ago to see how theyd do in the store, and theyve now become about 2 dozen. Im dropping the price drastically to $2.99/pr hoping theyll sell at work....my boss says if they dont sell soon i have to take them all back home.

Hmm this is a good point, I'm not going to worry too much about it then with the young 'uns.

I think we had a blank-firing male in there, because they stopped producing until I put two new males (well, grew out in situ) in there and now they're all preggo. And so are all the girls in my "back-up" colony that I started out of mild panic when the first colony stopped producing (doh!). Also I turned on the little heater in there a few weeks ago, I don't know if that has something to do with it, but the average room temp went up from 72 to 78-ish.

Lol, I feel your pain. And I remember all the little warnings I'd see when I was forst researching them about "just wait until they really start producing," but this is absurd! How have these little buggers not taken over the planet yet?! If their poop made good fertilizer you could probably use them to terraform Mars at the rate they multiply.
