Hi all.
I just got back into Balls after about an 8 year break. Here is a pic of my new baby.
Hope this works
He was VERY dry on the head when I got him, and it looks like he's going to shed soon. I have been misting him often to try and help with the shed.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.

Lil cutie! I'll bet he's been kept on a wood chip/shaving substrate, hasn't he? Two of my boys came with those brownish bellies, but it cleared up first shed.

Actually, the store was using "yesterdays news", I guess its recycles newspaper. I'm using corn cob bedding, but I'm thinking about switching to astroturf as this stuff is so dry. I'm happy, this morning he (she?) came out of the hide and moved around a bit, I think acclimation is starting to set in.
Whay do you guys think, should I wait until the shed is done before my first feeding? I was planning on giving a hopper or two this Friday ( that will be a week since his last, they had him on 2 fuzzy's - live unfortunately, I'm going to do Fresh Killed).

Yes, I'd wait until after the shed is complete, partly to give more time to acclimate, and partly to avoid the stress of combining shedding and eating. It won't hurt in the least to wait out a shed a few days, and then you have higher likelihood of its eating for you.

Nice snake.
I would switch over to astroturf. It holds moisture pretty good, and you can have two pieces cut to fit your cage, so that when one is dirty, you can just clean the cage out and replace the soiled one right away. I used to toss mine in the washing machine, but they get pretty frayed, so I would soak them in a 10% bleach solution in a bucket and then hose dry. But now I just take the easy way out and use newspaper.

Well, the shed went through fine. Hes looking good. I'll try and get some pic over the weekend.
As I posted in the other forum, I tried feeling him some small adults, (FK), and he wasnt having it. I left them vernight for him and still no dice. I'll try again next week.

Good plan to just wait a week for regular feeding time before trying again. You might want to try offering just one prey item, though, until he's eating for you.

That makes sense... I just threw the two in since I didn't know what to do with them.
Been a while since I had to do the whack-a-mouse thing, it was kindof traumatic, but quick nonetheless.
