    Let the smiles shine

i had someone ask me about this today. they were wondering if you put a male and a female in together, if they choose to mate...or, do they just naturally mate without thinking anything of it?

if that doesn't make sence...let me put it in the terms of humans.
Humans find an attraction before taking things as far as a child (in most cases...this is just an example lol). but do snakes?

can snakes find oneanother "unattractive" and choose not to mate?

i told her, if you put a male and a female in a cage, they will naturally mate....if i'm wrong, lemme know.

crazy question to ask...but we're just curious

I don't believe snakes are as picky. I'm not sure how much of it has to do with the male not wanting to breed at all, or whether it's because the male doesn't like a particular female enough, but sometimes they will not breed without encouragement. That's why some people recommend having 2 males for breeding, as combat between males stimulates breeding behaviour.

That and dropping the temperatures down to around 80 or under for a few weeks, then introducing them together. Though, I have a pair of Jungle Carpets that after putting them in, taking them out, putting them in... just randomly locked up. Give them time.
