Today I went on a ride along w/a woman I work for occasionally. She runs a petsitting business where the animals stay at their own home and she makes visits to them to walk, feed, etc. One house we went to was really awesome, right on the river and had a natural spring in her yard with beautiful fish....inside, I discovered she had 3 snakes. 2 burms and 1 BP. To my dismay this woman kept the burms in way too small enclosures, the poor things couldn't even stretch out a quarter of their length if they wanted to. The enclosures where clean, but just too small. No subtrate, no hides, small water bowls. The BP didn't have a hide either(or substrate). This woman is a doctor of some sort and obviously has plenty of money...she also lives alone so I'm sure those burms never get to 'stretch their legs' either....I guess even intelligent people can be pretty ignorant!!

It would be great if you could go by there and leave caresheets for her, and maybe this site's address.

I have one stop there this afternoon, I'm going to ask my friend (the one who owns the business) if it's ok first as I don't want to 'put off' one of her clients. If she says no, then I'll tell her I can't do the sit otherwise....there's got to be some way I can 'educate' this woman. Apparently, she's had these guys a long time and they look to be in good health, just that I think they should have some room to move around a bit....the least I can do is leave a little note saying that I noticed her snakes and I am a snake afficionado as well and then leave the web address for here......ugh!!

Brandon, I've never met the woman and probably never will as I do petsitting when they are not home. I doubt she wants to get rid of them as she's had them a long time from what I've gathered, and as I mentioned, they are in good health from what I can tell, not in immediate danger or anything, just need bigger more comfortable enclosures...

At least take the BP and just let her think that it escaped...you'd be doing it a huge favor.

Wish I could but instructions are to not touch them, besides, being an honest person, I wouldn't want to go about it that way. I did look in on them again today though. They look fine, but not in the most desirable living situation. At least the enclosures are clean and there's fresh water......I did leave her a little note that said I enjoyed observing her animals as I have 2 BPs myself and then said something corny like, 'if you're ever in the neighborhood, visit us @ ball-pythons.net'...blah blah blah....

Sounds like you did what you could reasonably do in the situation.
