Shedding problems..
Well guys, I have a simple problem with I'm hoping a simple solution. I have a male pastel, beautiful. I bought him from a breeder at an expo about a month ago, he's doing great! Except for shedding. Recently was his first shed with ME. And the reason I specify the word "me" is because he is a sub-adult and should have had plenty of sheds in his life-time. Anyways, he is having a rough time shedding and it is indeed coming off him as patches. I have heard about several soaking methods, but I would rather learn from the best. (.
Thanks ~
Olivia

What kind of set up do you have and or what are you using to measure humidity?

get a spray bottle, the moment he goes ghost like start misting him 2 times a day, also the side of the inclosure this helps with shedding, soaking works good also.

I see you previously stated you have a 40 gal tank.
Keeping humidity in tanks is hard, but doable. If you're using a heat lamp, that also ruins humidity.
-Try using a more "wet" substrate that will retain moisture. Such as eco earth.
-Cover the screen lid with tinfoil/saranwrap/wet towel
-Mist daily
-Create a humid hide. Add eco earth or moss inside a hide and keep slightly damp.
-Move the water dish over the heat pad.

Everybody else touched the basics, just keep your humidity where it should be and you'll be fine. I would go with a smaller tank though.

It's simple - your humidity is too low.
Here is a solution. I've found it easier to link to it then write it over and over every single day... Unfortunately whomever sold you the tank neglected to mention that anything with an open top cannot trap heat or humidity
