    Rosy Boa

My somewhat newly acquired Rosy boa from the East Bay Vivarium at the HerpExpo in San Jose passed way sometime yesterday night while I was sleeping. She was having trouble shedding and I was going to soak her today and found her dead. She was always a little "lethargic" and I thought it was because she was just a more calm snake. Temps and humidity was spot on and there was a humid hide. She was feeding regularly and even passed urates and feces the night before.

I'm extremely sorry for you loss. :/ That must have been an awful find. I don't know if a necropsy is an option, but it could shed light on the problem. If it was slow and always present like that, I wonder if it wasn't something like a tumor or heart issue. Subtle, slow to build, but fatal?

Either way I hope you feel better soon :/

Thanks. I buried her yesterday around 10:30pm in my backyard. Necropsy sounds like a good idea and I thought of it but the snake was always a little off. When I first handled her at the table I thought it was because she was stressed from the show but I guess it was more than that. I should have followed my instincts but I guess it was a newbie's mistake. Again thanks for the condolences.

    Sorry for your loss.

Perhaps you should let EBV know in case they have something contagious going through.

Yeah it was pretty terrible. It's ok though, she's happily buried in my backyard

Yeah they're not very good about emailing me back. I asked them a few questions and they only responded to one. But I'll send them a message.
