Suggestions for heating wooden 4x2x2 enclosure
I'm working on building my boa a wooden 4x2x2 enclosure out of 3/4" oak plywood, I'm aware of most of the different heating options (uth, rhp, che, heat lamps) but I want to know what works for you. I'm not sure how well an uth will heat through 3/4" of wood, I thought about routing out some of the wood so it wasn't so thick to heat through. I'll probably use fluorescent lights for ambient temps, so for now I'm more concerned with my hot spot.
So, how do you heat your larger enclosures?

Re: Suggestions for heating wooden 4x2x2 enclosure
I have two boa cages that exact size I built. I mounted a socket and use a 100 watt che to heat the enclosure. It keeps temps perfect. The one thing you must do is build a square out of chicken wire using zip ties. I believe mine was 12x12x12.

I would use a radiant heat panel.

For my big big cage I used a RHP and cut out a square on the bottom for heat tape. I covered the square with plexiglass then attached the heat tape to the glass on the outside.

Thanks for the replies.
I might just try a rhp, I don't want to rely on the wire around a che I know they get really hot.

I think you'll find it easier to maintain temps and humidity with the RHP (on a thermostat, of course).
