    small shed problem.

So my last snake shedded last night and it all came off but most of the shed from his head is still there. Never had this problem so I need dome help. I'll post pics. I don't know if the eye caps are still on or not. If not I'll just leave the shed alone and wait for next shed. But if the caps are still on to the vet we go. Lol.

I've never had stuck eye caps so I can't give you advice on that. Though a shedding problem usually points to a humidity issue, like 95% of the time.

The humidity was a little low cause the wife keeps the house to cold so I had to mist him few times a day.should have been at 75 to 80 but was at 70. I just think it's kinda weird the head shed didn't dome off but the rest came off in one peice

I had a repti different for when they shed but all three snakes started shedding at the same time. Lol. Went to turn it on a few days ago and the fan went out on me.

Still at 70% humidity should of been more than enough. What are you using to measure your humidity?

if it has retained eye caps and shed just soak for 30 mins keep changing it to luke warm water the whole time. Then for the eye caps get a q-tip (after soak) and slowly and softly twirl it on the eye it will take off the eye cap. Best of luck

Agreed with Jonas on the soaking. I like to try and get it off as soon as possible before it becomes a pain in the rear. Start by soaking in lukewarm water for 30 minutes. If the shed isn't coming loose then I'd do another 30 mins and rub gently. Leaving old shed on can promote bacterial infections (not saying it will but it is a possibility). Be careful with the eyecaps if you haven't removed them before.

I haven't done eye caps before so off to the vet we go. Lol. I'll just get the head and leave the eye caps for the vet.

Don't worry about the eye caps at all. Just make sure your humidity is high enough during his next shed. I keep mine at 80%+ once I notice a pink belly. You don't want to damage the living eye cap trying to remove one that was retained. You can blind your snake very easily. Leave them until the next shed. It won't affect him, don't worry.
