    Heat Panel

Currently have a 8 foot burmese python in a 6 foot by 30 inch enclosure and 18 inches high. Im thinking of getting a heat panel from reptile basics because im tired of the bulbs constantly going out. So im just wondering how many watts i would need? Either 80, 120 or 160 ? My basement is around 78 during this time and gets to around 70 in the winter time. And will i also need a thermostat? Thank you

You'll need at least a 120w, maybe even a 160w since your winter temps get so low. Call or email RBI and get their recommendations though. And yes, you will need a thermostat! I'd definitely use a proportional stat like Herpstat or Vivarium Electronics.

I was looking at vivarium eletronics thermostat but its so expensive to just regulate one cages temperature. And i was suggested to get the 160 watt but i feel the 120 should be good enough since im moving all of my snakes into another room and stacking them on top of eachother. So all the heat will be in one place

Thermostats are NOT that expensive, when factored over the YEARS of proper temps for your snake. Think about it in terms of how much you spend on alcohol if you drink, or new clothes, or a new electronic toy (all luxuries, not requirements for proper living conditions).

Your right but then again some of them are $150 for just 1 enclosure..

I stand by my previous statement. Annual shots for a dog cost more. And that's every year.

Pretty sure that the vet bills for a fried snake will be a lot more.

    Re: Heat Panel

Am I the only one that thought that enclosure sounds like it needs to be bigger? And yes you need a thermostat. They are not optional. Personally I would recommend Herpstats from Spyder Robotics.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.
