From 6/19
We rescued a 9 foot female albino burm. The snake is in good health. She was just dropped in this womans yard. A very nice woman who breeds "all natural" chickens for meat and eggs. She also takes in cats and stray dogs. So this is why she believs the snake was dropped on her stoop.
someone had brought up the notion of feeding crickets to a snake and it reminded me of this womans comment.
Apparently when she found this girl, she tanked her and got her temps around 80 degrees. Then she went down to her local pet store and picked up a book. She properly ID'd the snake from a few photographs, then asked the pet store employee what they felt the best food would be. She was appaled when the employee told her crickets, as it is not kind to feed them rodents. Whew thats allot of crickets, heck I would pay to see that..lol
Well sorry for rambleing, I will post pictures shortly
Thanks

I think you could probably use camel crickets for that. Those things get HUGE.

She looks like a charmer! It will be interesting to see how her temperament is with a few good meals under her belt, so to speak. For some reason, she puts me in mind of Ekaterina (Catherine the Great), so maybe that would be a good name for her.

Oh my gosh I need to stop reading posts about pet stores or Im going to burst a vein and go postal...
The petsmart near me has mice but will not sell them as feeders. They think it is cruel. And letting snakes starve to the point to where they might actually take some crickets isnt cruel?
*hums the circle of life*....

Well so I tried to feed her crickets this morning.. she seemed interested when I put 100 in her enclosure, but she just wouldn't strike. So I called the pet store and they said to put in more of them,. So I added a few more hundred....lol
Close but no cigar.
I think a plain old frozen thawed rat should do the trick.
Thanks
