Well, I managed to find one Black African House Snake (olive actually, but very close to black). It's a female CB 2003, originally from East Bay Vivarium. The breeder I'm buying it off of lives near Seattle (I am in Vancouver, B.C. btw), and I will be driving across the border to get her on Thursday/Friday. Woohoo!!!
Here's a picture of her by the way:
Don't you just love how that blue irridiscence shimmers off that black?
Now I just need a male. If any of you come across one, please let me know!!!
Also, if anyone has suggestions on things to do in Seattle (breeders, good pet stores, or other stuff as well), I would really appreciate them.
~40 Ball Pythons (mostly Freeway/Asphalt, Bongo, GHI, and Leopard combos)

Wow, a very beautiful snake indeed. I do love that blue shimmer. Good luck with her, and enjoy her, my fellow canadian. 8)

How do you bring them over the border? Do you have to pay any tariffs or fees? or just stick em in your underwear?

Since it's not CITES, all I have to do is pay duty to bring it across.
If it was a CITES animal, it would depend on whether it was appendix I, II, or III.

Incidentally, the breeder I'm getting the house snake from also has some very nice dwarf bci's, which are CITES Appendix II, and I'm really tempted to bring one across in my undies!!!

Well, I just picked up the House Snake on Friday. I did have to go into the customs office, and had to wait for the inspector to call someone up to check that house snakes weren't on CITES, so it took a few minutes. Not too bad for getting it across the border though.
Seattle is a much more expensive city than I would have thought... despite not having many particularly appealing tourist attractions, they still seem to have eyegouging tourist prices everywhere. No offense to any Seattleites, but I'll take Vancouver anyday (most Seattleites I met that had been to Vancouver agreed, and wondered what the heck I was doing down there, LOL).
Anyway, I'll post some pics of the new house snake once she settles in, and some more of Ippo as well.
