RB RHP and T8 question.
So my T8 came yesterday. I put it together, sealed it, hooked the lights up. Now I had them install the radiant heat panels. They came with the end of the cords cut off and with two plug ends. Sticking the cord ends into the plugs isn't working. What do I have to do to hook them up?
Also since they installed the panels on the top of the cage I was thinking of drilling a hole between the light and the RHP and dangling the thermostat probe halfway down. Does that sound like a good idea?

Has anyone bought RHP from reptile basic? I let the one "run" all night and saw no temp change. I just put the cord into the other plug so I've got both plugged in. It's gotta be me not doing something right with sticking the cord into the plugs. Frustrating because I want to get Allure moved in there because his tank is currently taking up the center of my floor.

It might help to post pics of the plug and the issues that you are having. I have not used RB panel but I have used pro-products and I'm not sure if the plug is the same but you really need to make sure the plug is clamped all the way to make contact with the wires. If I were you I would call Rich at RB and talk to him directly to get this sorted out and post pics of the issue. Hope you get it worked out soon.

My dad got it figured out. Both are working now. The probe for my thermostat fits through the hole where the RHP cord comes out so I don't have to drill. Using tape temporarily to figure out the happy medium for the probe placement. Trying the cold side at 80F thing first. I'll hot clue the cord to the roof and let it dangle down when I find the sweet spot.
Thank you for the help! Hopefully it doesn't take too long to figure out the probe placement. I'm impatient to get rid of the glass tank.

I would take the tape out immediately, snakes and tape do not go together. Glad you got it working but I would take that out right away

I said temporarily. He's in his 20 gal tank. He will not be moved into the T8 until I have the temps stable and the probe glued like I stated.

One other note it is not a good idea to run a thermostat cord in contact with a power cord. They can interfere with each other.
"If possible route the probe wires so that they are not in direct contact with the 120vac cables going to the heating devices. Preferably leave at least a few inches between the probe wires and the AC lines to avoid cross talk/electrical interference issues."
herpstat manual.
It applies to all proportional T-stats.
Make sure you check the temp at the highest place the snake can manage to get on. (top of the hide under the RHP) no place the snake can get to and stay should be over 95ºF this is the trick part of RHPs they are very hard to control in low enclosures, UTHs are far easier to manage and create a horizontal gradient and not a vertical one.
