Alright, I fed my BP on monday and ever since hes been hiding, at first i thought it would be normal while he digested but hes been like this till today. Now when i look in the hide through the bucket, not opening it, he gets all shy....any reason for this?

DId you feed it F/T or live...maybe the rat/mouse bit him and hes abit nervous.

rex does the same for me. i hjope you dont have the temperment problem i have with rex. BPs are hiding snakes, so i dont exactly know what you mean. if your expecting him to come out everynight and be active, i dont think he will be. but i dont know, every snakes personality is different

This really is not at all uncommon. Hissy hides all the freakin time! In fact, if i never took her out of her hides, i would never get to handle her at all. The only time Hissy really comes out is if either she is gettin hungry or I put sumthin new in her tank & she wants to explore. BP's would basically hang out in hides all day & all nite if they could.

Now that she has digested her meal (you should wait 48 hours before handling after they eat) you can feel free to pick the hide up off of him & take a look. Make sure he is alright. He probably will be, he is just being a BP!

I agree Ball Pythons love to hide. They might peak their head out once in a while. But depending on how large of a prey item you gave him too. Jojo stays in his hide all the time the only time he leaves is to drink some water or to move to the other hide. On the other hand my baby ball python Coconut sleeps on top of his hides. Its all a matter of personal preferance.

Ball Pythons are generally ambush predators. I'm guessing that is what explains the "peeking" behavior while they are in a hide. Every now and then I notice my bp moving from hide to hide, but she rarely is active during the day.

Yeah - count yourself lucky if you can catch em hangin their heads out of their hides in the daytime - a lot of ours will rarely come out to roam before lights-out - heck even seeing em take a drink seems like a rare treat.

the only reason i thought this was wierd was because I got him last friday, and untill monday he spent 60% of the day exploring. I got really excited because i thought bp's hid most the time.

he was in what they call escape mood sometimes comes when introducing to a new home. He has just settled in sounds like.
Get use to the in the hide all the time. I am like the others I just lift the hide off and take him out. I would let him settle in for about 2 weeks and just leave him alone, he should be fine
