    SFE = Stupid Feeding Error

    My normal routine with Shaggy is to feed him his veggies in the morning and crix in the afternoon. In the morning, I will take him out and clean his cage out, then put him back into his freshly clean cage with a little plate of his favorite salad fixings.

    Well, today, I had to be out of the house all morning and didn't get to do anything with/for Shaggy until the early afternoon. Needless to say, he was a hungry little booger! I put my hand in for him to crawl onto (Not that he does so by himself yet...I usually have to nudge him onto my palm) but instead of being budged at all...he BIT me! Right on the fleshy part of my palm. He was just ready to chomp on anything that moved!

    He didn't break the skin, but he's got quite a pinch and now I've got a tender little blister on my hand. LOL

    Well...he got crix and veggies at the same time...and I'll clean his cage out later when he's in a better mood. :? Nothing like feeling stupid and guilty all at the same time!

    Just thought I'd share that for y'all's amusement and edification!

    You've gotta see this!!

    Judy, we have a kingsnake that we don't even go near a day before feeding because he'll go after anything that moves. Any other time, he's great, but not when he's hungry!

    Shaggy's a year old. He's not fully grown yet, but pretty close. And sure it hurts...but you'd have to define "a lot" for yourself. All I got was a sharp pinch. Wasn't a big deal for me, but my toddler might have thought the world was coming to an end if it had happened to him. LOL :wink:

    I didn't know that, but it makes sense. If I'm hungry enough, I think it's possible to make an SFE feeding me. Glad he didn't break the skin.

    Hee hee -- I don't expect it to come up, but it wouldn't hurt to bear it in mind. When my blood sugar gets low, I am not the friendliest bear in the forest. :lol:

    Cal Kings

    He was just excited and hungry. They're not usually aggressive critters at all. If you keep them well-fed and interact with them often, you shouldn't have any worries about biting.
