I am TERRIBLE at math and I bought a big ol' bottle of virosan... now here is my dillema-
I have a bottle I can fill with 22oz and it is not all the way full (that's just where the oz measurements stop) so i figure I'll use it as a virosan spray bottle but the ratio is this -
"to prepare 1 gallon of a .5% solution (which I'm assuming is what I would need since this is the percentage they use to disinfect teats before milking) for dipping teats, mix 32 fluid ounces (1qt) of Virosan solution with 96 fluid ounces (3qt) of clean water." So...

    32oz/96oz = 1 gallon ... all I want is 22 oz.
    x/x = .172 gallons (22oz?)?

PS: there are 128 fl. oz. in a gallon.

I guess Math is good for something...

Um, my only question is whose teats are you planning to milk?

All you need to know is that 32 is 1/3 of 96 so you need to put in 3 times as much water as Virosan. Therefore, since 1+3=4, you need a number divisible by 4 to work with. you can either go with 5 oz of Virosan and fill it up to 20 oz with water, or use a measuring cup to get 6 oz of Virosan and 18 oz of water for 24 total oz.

If ya use a little more virosan it wont hurt, remember they use it for dental surgery and right on said animals so I don't think a little to much is bad or that ya have to be prefect
I buy the small bottles, for now, from ProExotics and they look to be around 2oz and they sent a standard size spray bottle and marked on black line almost to the top where the bottle narrows for water and add the 2oz bottle.
If ya follow Marla's formula I think your good.
Virosan Rocks! No wipe no fuss no muss
Water bowls etc you do want to rinse

Jotay I used it tonight and all you've said was true it is SO easy and for some reason I found it sort of pleasant smelling (well, much more than bleach anyways). Virosan is definately the way to go especially since the last two times I cleaned the cage I used bleach and was paranoid for two days after that there were fumes and he was going to die.

Virosan- No wipe, no worries, no problem

Hey that is a snappy slogan for them
Yes, that is why I dig it no worries about the fumes or not rinsing enough
A very wise lady taught me long ago to make things easy and not to work yourself to death when it can be accomplish an easier way.
That would be Virosan, easier and safer

    Yea Jonah!

certainly my friend! This is where I ordered from - ended up being like 40 bucks with shipping and all ... good deal since I have a full spray bottle and haven't even made a dent in the neck of the bottle - well worth it if you ask me.
