Questions about rack with back heat

Well I built a melamine rack, it's enclosed on three sides and I decided on back heat because my room stays fairly warm (76ish) and I made it enclosed on 3 sides so it will hold in heat better. I'm running 12" THG tape hooked to my herpstat 1.

    1) where do I place the thermometer probe in the tub? On the back of the tub or just kind of floating through one of the air holes in the back of the tub?

    2) do I place the thermostat probe directly on the heat tape?

I would put the thermometer probe probably floating through one of the air holes. As for the thermostat probedI'd definitely put it directly on the heat tape probably mid level area of the rack.

Questions about rack with back heat

If you put the tstat probe right on the heat tape like that then that won't tell you what the temp of the tub is. Make sure your thermometer is working so you can adjust it so the the inside of the tub is getting warm enough. This is why i wouldn't use back heat for balls.

Yeah I know belly heat is ideal but for my current living situation back heat fits me best. I'm not worried about a thermal gradient because my room stays pretty warm. And in the winter if it gets too cold in my room I can put the rack in my "snake room" aka large walk in closet with a space heater
