Finally eating! (in a separate container)

Well this is actually my first time posting about my ball python, but I've been lurking the forums for about a year now lol (since I got him). When I got him his last owner was feeding him in a separate container, so I started out doing that. Then I read some stuff that said that you shouldn't do that, but I also read things that said that you should, so I started just feeding him in his cage. He was doing just fine with that, but then in the winter he stopped eating for weeks and weeks. I know that they do that and you shouldn't worry about it, lol, but I'm sure everyone does a little! Plus he's my first snake so I want him to be all good. I made sure his temps and everything were good, he wasn't getting skinny or anything. But today I decided to try to feed him in that separate container again, and as soon as I put him in there he was alert and looking around. I put the rat in there and bam! He ate it with no problem. So now I guess I'm just wondering if I should keep feeding him in there every time or try to get him to eat in his cage again?

His enclosure is where he would be most comfortable and more apt to eat regularly. IMO
