Will he EVER calm down?

My male bci, who is about a year old, and whom I've had for about 3 months now, has very odd behavior. In fact, I have posted about this plenty of times, but it concerns me so much it feels good to do it again. When he is in his enclosure, he is the most inactive snake I've ever owned. All he does is bask, then hide. He's never trying to search for a way out of the enclosure like my pythons and kingsnake do. But then when I am handling him, he is the most active snake I own. His breathing is incredibly hard. He swings his tail every which way to grab ahold of things, and simply will not hang. If I have him out I have to place him on my neck or on the floor or something because he'll try so hard to climb up onto nothing that it leads me to believe he could easily hurt himself. I am very concerned about this seeing as how it is already a mess and he's only 2.8 feet long! I know a lot of different species calm down with age, but I've heald many bci's (though mostly birthlings) since I've gotten him, and they were all just as calm as my bp's. So, I need lots of reassurance that I'm just a worry wart. Either that or a good offer on an insane BCI... (....j/k)

My runt is like that, I've contemplated calling him spazzo instead. I guess it is just their personality, tendencies or something. The best you could do is hold him frequently and hope to weed out the spazing. If that doesn't work you'll just have to be very cautious when he's big

Boas love to climb trees, etc. As opposed to ball pythons which like to hide in the ground. So their handling tendencies will differ. Just as long as he isn't doing daredevil stuff like trying to grab something 3 feet out it should be fine.

I agree with the godfather Will,
For the boa's I've seen it is always 50/50 if they will be calm or over active. Of course I normally don't have a good enough history on them to know wether they have been "socialized" well.
Just keep up the handling, as long as it does not stress him, he should calm down for you soon.

My BCI is the exact same way!
He goes wild when ya take him out. He doesnt want to sit still for anything.
He used to be such a calm snake, I wonder what happend...
It is funny though cause he never likes going back into his cage.

Mine hates returning to his cage after handling. It's like he goes all stiff and tries to hook his head on the cage lid to prevent me from putting him back.
I took him outside a few days ago, and it was like he turned into a wild animal again, flailing around and trying to get away. but he transformed back to normal upon returning to the house. What weirdos they are.
