I would LOVE to figure out how to make this work with a snake it looks awesome! I don't like the configuration of the DIY version, but there must be a way to fit the LED's into a tube or line shape or something- check these out...

    I like these designs better...
    LEDs in a circle:
    http://www.aquadirect.com/store/cust...?productid=915

Or even in a tube like this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=46314

    or this:
    http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...ht.asp?CartId=

BOTH of these pics from "FishBowlz" on Ebay:
Note: This is a straight line version with the AC adapter cord in bottom left corner

This is the coolest looking one but I have NO idea where I could find materials other than the LED's (See DIY link above)

but I think these two designs are most do-able though I have no idea how.. can any technical people please help me find places to get supplies? I'll build one for anyone who can help me scrounge up supplies to make the neat ones like these- not for free though - I'm broke, but I'll do it for cost.

EDIT: this looks even more do-able!

    DIY Moonlight

For this I guess I need:

About 5 or so Super Blue LED lights: http://www.lc-led.com/View.jsp?idProduct=64 (smallest amount you can order is 15 - for 21 bucks)

A soldering iron of Less than 30 watts

    A transformer of some sort

    Some resistors?

    some sort of wire (speaker?)

Something to solder with (iron? lead?)

Never done this sort of thing before but would love to try. Marla, I know you are handy with a soldering iron and I know a few of you others like Steelsack are pretty darn good with your hands and such, I would love to try doing this but need some guidance in this totally un-herp related arena. Any advice or guidance would be very much appreciated! If I can get it to work and am happy with the finished product I will definately turn this into at DIY with photos etc. That'll probably get us some crazy hits - I think we'd be the first herp forum to do it, at least I've never read about it anywhere else

How To: Make your text look cool!

here is a place I found http://www.theledlight.com/catalog.html I am still tinkering with a few ideas with leds for no heat lighting in some of my enclosures I keep alot of arboreal snakes and use heat panels for heating and just dont like useing cheap flourecent fixtures for lighting since most of them give off quite a bit of heat themselves , which makes it a bit harder to keep a good temperature gradient the led lights should help quite a bit once I get it all figured out

I guess my main question now is where can I get casings or fixtures or whatever? Some place to install the lights into? Are there places that just make that sort of thing or would I need to get some plastic and fasion some sort of casing... I'd like to if possible do something similar to that tube pictured above perhaps I could just build a plastic box and have the holes drilled in the bottom so I could angle them the same way....

here is the light I am working with currently
I just want to create accent lighting within my cages
I dont know if that is what your looking for or not it can be found on this page http://www.theledlight.com/specialtyleds.html if not there are many other ways on the site to mount the lights you just have to search since it isnt that well organized I will say they are very very fast on getting stuff shipped
