    Red blotchy scales?

Yesterday I adopted an adult male pastel ball python, since his owners were moving and had nowhere to keep him. When I first inspected him I saw some minor wounds, which I thought was from feeding live prey. Taking a closer look today he has inflamed scales on his back and some blotchy red/pink scales. We visited the vet who confirmed he was parasite free, but we didn't ask about the inflamed or red/blotchy scales. He also has a pink spot on his lower jaw.
So far he hasn't eaten, I'm not surprised since he's in a new area and probably very stressed.

If you have any idea what this could be pleasepleaseplease let me know so I could research it.

( I've looked up pictures of scale rot, and they don't look like this, also there is nothing wrong with his belly. )
