What kind of uth or heat tape should I get?

^title lol. I know people advise against like zoomed uths so I'm thinking like flexwatt tape. This is for a glass aquarium... Thoughts?

For a glass tank I wouldn't advise heat tape.

I would get an ultratherm UTH: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ultratherm-heat-pads

Make sure that it is regulated by a good thermostat, they are not optional when it comes to UTH's.

    Here are 3 good thermostats:

    Budget: http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR.../dp/B000NZZG3S

    Mid-Range: http://www.reptilebasics.com/ranco-etc-111000-pre-wired

If you don't have a thermostat, use a heat gun to get the temps & add substrate if it's too hot, remove if it's too cold (just make sure the snake isn't in direct contact with glass)...but yes, thermostats are ideal.

Is the ultratherm much better than the zoo med UTH?

They're pretty cheap, so if it's better I'll upgrade.

Yes they are made better and run at a much lower temps (around 100ºF depending of ambients some) I prefer them to everything my first choice. They should always be used with a T-stat personally I would not suggest a hydrofarm the error is too great IMO. johnson or ranco would be my cheap ones but for the little extra$ a herpstat beats them all.

I already have a thermostat, plus I'm waiting on my herpstat 4. I'll look into those uths. Thanks for the only useful info

For the Ultratherm UTH's, is there adhesive or do I need to get aluminum tape to stick it to the bottom?

No adhesive they need tape. Foil tape works well just makes sure it is heat rated to over 130 degrees. Some are some are not. I have also used black rubber tape and plastic tape as well. As long as it is heat rated it doesn't matter much.
