Help! I drilled a hole in my heat tape

So I was dumb enough to miss my mark and drill a hole right in the middle of my 12 inch heat tape. Can I bandage it or is time to drop a $55 again ?

Cut that section off. Try making the remaining pieces even sized and wire them together.

There are gaps between each resistive heating element but I assume you pierced the heating element.

You could easily cut both ends of the heating element with a razor blade to disconnect that one from the voltage source.

Wiring sounds a lot easier. But look how easy I made a mistake. Damn guys, I think I'm just gonna have to buy a whole role again. I can use the rest for scraps.
