Custody Battle over my Bengal. :(

My ex-fiancee has claimed our kitten as hers, moved her out of the apartment and into her brother's house while I was in the hospital. Widge was the only thing that kept me getting out of bed in the morning the two weeks before I was hospitalized, and now I'm not sure I'll ever see her again. I'm bereft.

Some people really suck at life. My ex talked about taking some of the snakes until I explained to him what he would be sacrificing (unwillingly) if he touched them.

I feel ya. When my ex and I split up, I moved into a place where I couldn't have any pets. She sold my 2-55 gallon full blown coral reef tanks for literally pennies on the dollar. She also threw my cat outside to fend for himself. He has always been an indoor cat.

Needless to say, once I heard my cat was basically homeless, I took him in and moved to a place where I CAN have him.

That's terrible Do you have any proof that you bought the cat or was it a joint purchase? I assume they have papers? Did you sign them or did she?

She was a private rescue unfortunately, so no paperwork at all, just a handoff after a home visit.

I am feeling better now though. I got a kitten named Sophie who would have ended up as yet another shelter-kitten. I don't like to think of it as replacing Widget, because I miss her and think of her all the time, but as my ex and I aren't on speaking terms and will not be for a long time, Sophie has definitely filled a void. She and her 4-pound self manage to take up me ENTIRE twin bed at night. She leaves bottlecaps in my shoes and is absurdly jealous whenever I have a friend over. She's definitely adopted me. =]

There are people that will stoop to very low levels at the dissolution of a relationship.
As bad as it seems now count yourself very lucky you did not have children with a person like this.

The animals were bad enough. We'd planned for kids someday, she even dreamed of our daughter. Well, someone's daughter, anyway. Obviously not ours.

I am doing okay, all things considered. The only time I ever get genuinely, actively upset is when I think of Lilywidget. I had a dream two nights ago that featured both my ex and the cat, and I cried over the cat. I think that's fairly telling haha.

Good luck with that.. When me and my ex broke up he kept my dog, and anyone that knows me knows that Bear is pretty much my everything. He ended up conning me out of my vehicle and 2500$ but in the end I got my dog, and thats all that matters.

He did keep my fish tanks, a 30 gal with African Cichlids and a 55 gal my Gma gave me with a lot of money put into it and all my somewhat expensive but very special fish. I am still holding out that I might get my 55 back but who knows.

I dont know what to tell you because this is a grey area and there isnt much you can do if they wont cooperate
