Now that Goblin's eating again, he is looking rather plump. Or obese, if you will. He ate a really large rat last week, and I think it shows in his fatness. I think I may actually have to reduce his feeding frequency now. This is surprising, considering the fact that the last time he ate was Valentine's day!

I don't think he looks obese. I've seen fatter bp's!
Which brings up the question...How do you know when your bp is TOO fat? :?

He's a good lookin' fella, Jen. He doesn't look like a stuffed sausage like fat bp's do.

Hey Jen no worries your BP is lookin' really sweet and heathly to me. I'd say that a 55lbs or so BP would be a heathly one anything 65+ would be considered obese(IMO). Anyone else think the same???

55 lbs?? That's more than 10 lbs per foot of snake for a full-grown bp! I'd think they'd explode well before they got to that point.

Well, I could be off in my math, but I'm thinking a particularly long and fat female ball python could hit 8 or maybe even 9 lbs. Depending on who you ask, females are breedable at 800 grams, 1100 grams, or 1500 grams, which ranges from 1.76 to 3.3 lbs. Obviously those will be the low end of sexual maturity, but I'm having difficulty imagining their reaching 10 times that size. Anyone else want to jump in with an assessment here?

If a big ball python is 3000 grams, and there are 456 grams in a pound, that'd be about 6.5 pounds. I've seen a freakishly huge bp that was 12 pounds on KS.
